Emily Kapit, MS and Member of
the Professional Association of Résumé Writers, is the Lead Coach and Résumé Writer
for ReFresh Your Step
Coaching & Consulting, a career coaching and professional documents writing
firm geared towards young professionals (ages 21-39). Raised in North Carolina,
Emily attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she
majored in broadcast journalism. After graduating and moving to New York City,
she adjusted her original plan for a career in the broadcasting field and
instead headed into the corporate world with hopes of attaining a fulfilling
job and improved work-life balance.
Emily spent nearly three years at the NY-based global investment
bank Lehman Brothers, working first in the public relations department and
then as a corporate recruiter. During these years, she worked extremely long
hours but also learned a great deal about the importance of striving for career
fulfillment. Additionally, her time as recruiter yielded an in-depth knowledge
of effective résumés /cover letters, interviews and networking strategies.
Emily left Lehman Brothers in May 2007 with the dream of launching a consulting
firm dedicated to helping young professionals embark on the right career path. As
the first step in this direction, Emily earned her Masters Degree in
Educational Psychology so as to gain the academic backbone for what would
eventually become ReFresh
Your Step.
Launched in September 2008, ReFresh
Your Step’s services provide clients with the tools and framework necessary for
a successful career. Emily and her team provides research and values/balanced-based coaching techniques to clients hoping to successfully identify or switch career paths altogether or looking to navigate obstacles within their chosen paths.
Through both traditional face-to-face meetings and/or conference calls, Emily works with each client to establish a baseline understanding of what the goals are and how to reach them. Additionally, she uses research-based methods and exercises to co-actively assist each client strive for success. Whether you’re a student looking ahead to graduation or a
young professional hoping to find a more fulfilling job path, Emily and her
team will be there to help you every step of the way.
